Icky Doome (Shad[]wb[]x) Live Set 11/15

Brooklyn’s Shad[]wb[]w came through the show back in June for a guest set, but producer Icky Doome (1/2 of the group) has a new live set he’s been working on, and will be joining me on Thursday for a live radio debut. Sounds like he’ll be bringing some friends, likely including vocalist / namesake Shadowbox, and who knows who else, so it should be a great time. You can preview the live set via a masked YouTube clip below.

Back Up In The Heezay Baby

Can’t get enough of that gangsta shit. Yeah, that’s right me and the homies DJ Eleven and DJ Dopeshoes are back with another edition of Str8 West Coastin, bringing a bit of California love to the East side. And this time we thought we’d put together a mix of some of our favorite West Coast classics to get you in the proper mind state. Plug in, let your mind drift, and see you this Saturday at Project Parlor in Bed-Stuy. BBQ all day, and half price drinks til 4:00 PM, so don’t get caught slippin.

DJ Ayres Tears It Up This Week

DJ Ayres is a Brooklyn don. The Rub, his monthly party with with DJ Eleven & Cosmo Baker, is an institution. He’s one of the most versatile and in-demand DJs in the city, and his debut single of solo productions, I’d Fuck Me, is coming out this week on T&A Records, which he runs with DC DJ/Producer Tittsworth. I’ve been playing tracks from the single for the last couple of weeks, and it’s super solid. And if you know like I know, expect nothing but a top-notch DJ set to rock your party, your automobile, or even your iPhone.

Jahdan Blakkamoore Comes Back Hard

Brooklyn’s Jahdan Blakkamoore gets a lot of love, but not half as much as he deserves. Simply put, he’s one of the most talented and versatile performers in the game, and he’s a long way from getting his true due. I had the pleasure of working with JD & his Dutty Artz crew on pushing his debut solo album Buzzrock Warrior, and was constantly taken aback by his constant creativity & humility. He constantly gives his all, coming up with creative ways to master everything from dancehall chatter to hip-hop boasts (see this clip w. Smiff N Wessun, filmed by your truly) to classic reggae to R&B crooning. (video after the jump…) Continue reading

NYC-2-Africa feat. Jahdan, Anthony B & Bajah

This tune is an absolute monster, and in fact I believe had its world premiere (premiere..premiere….premiere…..) on Worldwide Smash back in September, thanks to a hot off the iPhone hook-up from Subatomic Sound System in the booth. Anything new from Jahdan Blakkamoore is always worthy of rewinds, and hooking up with Anthony B & Bajah just completes the triumvirate. This is some straight up chant down Babylon shit. Play it LOUD.
